Management System Design

Management System Design

Organisational set-up is not only summarised in a structure (organisation chart, job descriptions, RACI), however complex and detailed it may be. Equally important - indeed often even more so - are the working mechanisms of operation, i.e. what we at Key2people call the Management System.

In other words, if the structure is similar to the “anatomy” of an organisation, the management system is its “physiology”: the way in which people are informed, coordinate and make decisions, typically across and through organisational boundaries. The more business complexity grows, the more essential operating mechanisms become, because they are a flexible, concrete response to the need for coordination and management of organisational trade-offs.

Key2people accompanies the client in defining the architecture of the Management System but also in its implementation, and if necessary, also intervening on 'micro' variables, such as the way in which a meeting is managed or communication to collaborators is carried out.

With this in mind, managers are involved in coaching and training sessions to “practise” the effective management of coordination, communication and decision-making, so that the Management System can become an authentic part of the organisational culture.

The Management System, more than any other organisational tool, is an area in which it is possible to introduce innovations and make a truly personal mark in terms of leadership style. In fact, solutions and experiences are emerging - often “smartly” innervated with new technologies - that can represent genuine elements of novelty and impact, even without requiring major organisational changes or heavy investment in resources.
